Hmmm. Another step in the wrong direction for high street retail in my opinion, but we’ll see how it pans out.
I’m guessing Sports Direct pay minimum wage, so can’t imagine many House Of Fraser staff staying when their new contracts come through. They’ll all be gone within a year. So who gets to replace them on minimum wage? And do we think that their existing customers will continue to shop with them?
If the department managers start leaving, that’s the first sign of everything going tits up.

I’d hate to have that dreadful man as my boss, and I agree the future doesn’t look rosy for this brand. I have to say I’m at a loss to know why he invested in the first place. It isn’t an area with a future that I can see, though there are hopefully cleverer folk that I who can do something to rejuvenate many High Streets.
I’d certainly make sure every town offered an hour free parking wherever possible.

Lower rents are needed to get businesses back into city centres, rather than forcing them to become ghost towns.
