Thought I'd get the ball rolling. Most of you know my kit, but just in case, I'll give a little reminder:
Loads of boxes, plates of spaghetti... and tolerant neighbours.

... and tolerant neighbours. I wish we all had them, or soundproof houses, that'd be good. If I ever work out how to take a decent picture of my kit I might post a pic or two of my practically antique equipment, doesn't help that my rack is pretty much hidden behind my armchair.

What do you call antique?

Hi pp, I think my CDP is 27 and my amp about 26 years old, the speakers are somewhat newer, only around 6 years. I've still got the receipts somewhere, I might dig them out to see exactly how old... I know some folks have far older kit than me, but from my observations in general, the vast majority of people in this hobby (is that the right word?) don't keep their equipment very long. My CDP has started to smell old, quite an odd thing to say I guess, but when I open the drawer to swap a disc a get a faint but unmistakable whiff of old components breaking down, I suspect it's only a matter of time before pfzzzzzzt...

I was fairly close, I bought my CDP in Mar 1992, the amp in Jan 1993 and the speakers in Apr 2011. I just worked out that, even though I'm supposedly more interested in HiFi, during my 10ish years on the WHF forum I've spent more on AV kit, quite a bit more

Still got a receipt from the first amp I bought just before I left school - from about 35 years ago.

That's pretty good going, the receipt for my CDP is definitely the oldest one I've got, not even sure why I've kept it so long, it's wayyyyy out of warranty and the shop I bought it from (Radfords in Bristol) closed down years ago

It would probably be a culture shock, hence why I've only toyed...
