Launched in the UK at the Bristol Show last month, Technics' SL-1000R turntable represents the pinnacle of turntable engineering - there may well be decks around that look a lot flashier, include a lot more metalwork or woodwork, or maybe even be able to stabilise a cruise ship on a stormy sea, but as far as specifications goes, very few, even at many times the price of the SP-1000R, can get close. It's price might be that of a modest family car, but its performance is more akin to that of a supercar - which puts a different spin on its price tag.
I'm hoping to get a hands on with this deck soon, possibly even a review, and hopefully host an event in Birmingham for it to be heard - either by audiophiles or just those that are curious.
