Wow!
Has to be seen in IMAX, and the sound level is way above what's recommended - the screeching planes are ear piercing, and the power of the explosions is awesome! That's going to be a real system tester!

I have this film on DVD and it's disappointing in every aspect.

Where do I start? Okay, let's kick off with the beginning of the film when - not sure of the actor - but the British soldier is running from the Germans. If that town is meant to be Dunkirk, I've never seen such a clean town, apart from a few leaflets. Dunkirk was bombed to pieces, yet there isn't any sign of bomb damage. The next scene when he goes onto the beach and has a dump. A few yards to his right a British soldiers is either burying or digging up a collegue. They both look at each other and not mention a word. Really!? You only see three Spitfires when in reality there were two squadrons deployed, that equates to about 24 aircraft. When he walks onto the beach... I've never seen such an orderly queue. Also the buildings look too modern. The thing that gets me, though, is there's not enough chaos. This is far superior. A 3 part drama from Alex Holmes. It had a budget of around £3m as opposed £100m for Nolan's lash up. This 10 minute is Womhoudt massacre. All of Alex Holme's depiction is taken from actual accounts of soldiers. It kicks Nolans effort into touch IMHO

I can’t really comment on the authenticity of the film as I knew nothing about it - and I’ve never been to Dunkirk. I just went to see it, took it for what it was, and commented on the experience. Not much else I could do really

Watched the film again last night. Well, not the whole film. Only about 35 minutes then I fast forward to various parts of the film.
Still think it's a very poor effort for the huge budget. It lacks atmosphere, desperation... the acting is wooden. Why does Commander Bolton, played by Kenneth Brangh, spend the whole time on the Mole? His character is meant to be cross between Capt. Bill Tenant, who directed the evacuation at Dunkirk and his sidekick Commander James Clouston.
The last scenes where the Spitfire conveniently glides, with no engine, shoots down a Stuka dive bomber. Really?
Overall the film just feels flat and devoid of any tension. Including the fast forwarding, it was 50 minutes of my life wasted.
