When I look around at other dealer’s websites, they’re usually quite awkward to navigate. It’s quite hard to make it simple, mainly due to the number of different types of products available, and some dealer’s insistence on trying to stock every brand under the sun.
But its not that bad really, as those who know what they’re looking for can usually find it within a minute or so, even if the search facility doesn’t help. But what about those who don’t know what they’re looking for? They might know what they want to do, but how do they browse products to find out which ones do it and which ones don’t?
For that reason, I’ve started “easy”. It’s part of the main menu at the top of the web page - I’ll add a couple of other links to this on the main page tomorrow to make it more prominent. So how does it work?
Let’s say someone wants a streaming option - doesn’t matter what type, but let’s say they want a system for playing Spotify. Click on “easy”, which will take them to a page that lists the popular streaming services (as well as Roon, and wireless streaming services like AirPlay and Bluetooth), after which they can click on the relevant streaming service or control app for them - which then takes them to a page that lists all Spotify compatible items available at the little audio company - easy! Clicking on the product pic then takes them to the actual product page, if they wish to look further.
So it takes just two clicks to see your options for Spotify, TIDAL, Quboz, Bluetooth, AirPlay, and Roon. I’ll add Deezer and network streaming over the weekend.
Let’s see how long it takes before the idea pops up elsewhere...
