Having owned Arcam amps for well over a decade, I still have fond memories of the sound of both amps and CDPs. Still a big Arcam fan, and although the entry-level models tended to lack oomph, for everyday use in the home environment.
Even though I wouldn't revert back, still believe they had bad press in certain quarters - unfairly IMO.

I’m currently using an Arcam P429 power amp in my system which I’ve borrowed off my brother while I’m power-amp-less. It was definitely a step up in quality over the integrated Cyrus One amp I was temporarily using as a power amp, so anyone who tells you amps make no difference, I will insistently call bollox on that. As good as the Cyrus One is, I was hearing stuff with the Arcam amp I wasn’t hearing with the Cyrus.

In terms of balance Arcam get most of it right. Although the cheap A65+ wasn't the most revealing amp around, it was incredibly musical.
One of my favourite sounding systems I heard at'The Towers': It was Arcams flagship receiver with Mordaunt Short Performance 6 speakers. It had two sub woofers. Mind blowing.

They hum a bit though. Varies in level, sometimes quite loud.

No doubt, if I had the space I would love that set-up, especially with the twin subs.
