I have seen definite differences between the Xbox X One and the Oppo 203, for example on Batman Begins 4K HDR Blu-ray when Batman catches them doing the drugs, when the clip shows down an alley way on the Oppo 203 its as clear and clean as a whistle but on the Xbox One X the picture looks anything but clean and clear. I see why the Xbox One X gets 4 stars on WHF and the Oppo gets 5 stars. I would strongly recommend getting the Oppo 203 to anyone while you still can.

I would expect difference between game consoles and dedicated 4K players. A games console nowadays is a media hub, designed for numerous things, not like back in the days of the PS2 or original Xbox - these could play CDs, although quality was dubious.
My first Bluray player was a PS3, which looked great - a good improvement on a DVD player, as you’d expect, but replacing it with a dedicated, budget Bluray player (a Sony BDPS350 at the time) produced a cleaner, better picture. I would expect the same with UHD playback.
