Looking to replace my Arcam CD73. Over recent months it's starting to misbehave, so I've been using the Blu-ray player.
The easy thing would be to buy a Antilla for the Tucana, but loathed to spend too much money as CDs only get played once in a blue moon.
A second hand Leema Stream might fit the bill, but I've read some patchy reviews (and the MKIII is fugly), as I'm unlikely to dem, I need to pretty sure it'll sound good with my current set-up.
Ah, budget less than £1000... much less.
Thanks guys.

Apologies PP, I’ve only been on my phone this afternoon, but back on the iPad now.
I presume you’re just after a straight CD player? No SACD or anything?

No probs. No separate dac or anything of that nature. If SACD will be better, that's good but not essential.
If I was an avid CD player i would be looking for one ASAP... as I'm not, I'll look at a few options and perhaps go and dem one or two brands.

I think with the amplifier you have (not sure which speakers you have), I’d certainly audition some and choose carefully - you don’t want one that falls too short on quality, allowing the Leema shows it up its deficiencies - you may end up to playing them at all. I can’t say I know the Leema well enough to make any worthwhile recommendations. I’d actually be tempted to pick up an old CD payer to use as a transport - bought cheap enough, you can just chuck it when it eventually plays up nd find something else - then just ad a really good DAC. I’d go with a Chord Qutest and an old Technics player. their servo assisted players would play anaything! The Pioneer PDS model players with Stable Platter Mechanism made good transports.

Speakers are PMC TB2is. Agree about quality source. It'll be a case of whateve floats my boat.
Have listed a few maybes: Marantz 8005, Arcam CD37, Exposure.

I've got a soft spot for the Rega Apollo R, that might be worth a look pp. Although it does need a bit of room above it, not too sure how much?

My recommendation as on the other forum would be to do what David is saying PP, get a great dac with a transport. It will wipe the floor with any all in one CD player. If you aren’t ready yet I’d get the CD player repaired and then spend a little more when ready. My recommendation would be the cxc and something like a Qutest. The make of transport won’t matter too much but a good dac to bring resolution will. If you want to do same thing with a streamer then get a basic streamer with a dac. Cheers Simon

I can't say I'd seen the CXC before, that could be a suitable replacement for my old Arcam Alpha when it goes pffffzztt
