Hi,
I feel very strange about posting this question here as it is David's site and he may not carry certain brands and also carries a brand that I have already spoken to a local dealer about. But WHF is closing and I'm not very comfortable with WAM.
My KEF Kube2 has developed a loud buzz/hum it is not a ground loop issue. I have emailed KEF as to the availability of spares (this is not a current model) and will see if it can be fixed.
I have spoken to a couple of dealers and they where very negative about the KEF subs of this era. Maybe I've just been lucky to get 4 years out of mine but it is a very nice unit came packed excellently as part of a KHT 2003.5 and my long term plan was if and when funds became available to replace it with a R400b. That plan is kinda shaken now by what I am hearing.
My thoughts are:
Replace the Kube2 with a MA Bronze at £460 from the local guy
Replace the Kube2 with a Dali E-12 at £500 from RS
Decide to stick with KEF and either go Kube 10 or R400 £600/1000 crying to KEF for a discount for the K2 failure.
Oh, or go outside where the people are.

No problem at all, it’s what forums are for!
It was more the older PSW subs that were an issue, less so the later Kubes.
Personally, I wouldn’t say the MA subs are any more/less reliable than what you have. I can’t speak for the Dali subs.
Whereabouts are you based James? You can always email me if your email not comfortable giving out that information.

I live in Redditch, not a million miles away from you. The MA is just because a local shop sells them and I went in to see them , the Dali because my speakers are all Dali.
I do like the KEF well I did while it was working I'm waiting on a response from KEF but I'm not sure when they stopped making them, I'm thinking it's maybe 5 years old. Ive just got a new amp so I may have done for it myself.

See what KEF say and let me know - I’ll see what I can come up with.
