I don’t like promoting Amazon. Not paying enough British taxes, probably paying the lowest wage possible to as many employees as possible, and more than likely one of the main reasons for scores of home grown businesses across the UK folding, and certainly one of the reasons for the changing face of our high street.

I appreciate that it’s a convenient way of shopping for some, as they may have mobility issues for example, but those of us who don’t, is it up to us to save more British businesses from going under? There’s plenty of alternative places out there to buy much of the stuff that we just automatically order from the big A.
And they’re being very clever about how they do things. By allowing third party sellers, they can monitor what sells in large numbers. They then approach the manufacturer’s with a wad of cash to buy in bulk - who’s going to say no? This then affects the sales of the little guys.
And if they become any more of a dominant force force than they already are, I can see one day when all we have is the big A, corner shops, hairdressers and cafes/restaurants. How far will this go? Will kids grow up being able to order literally anything they need via their X Box or PlayStation via apps? How much more detached from a sensible society can kids get? Remove the little interaction they already have with people and we’ll be breeding Neanderthals with zero social skills in 20-30 years time. Society is bad enough already.
I just feel that the Government is all for getting UK citizens to pay more taxes to pay for “fixing” various things that are broken, but they’re ignoring huge corporations who are circumventing our tax laws and getting away with paying millions, if not billions in tax every year that should be helping this country - the NHS, homelessness, and Police for starters.
