As we have done for the last 2 years, we will be working with Auden Distribution at this year’s Bristol hifi show. Hegel will have their own room, but we will have Hegel and Amphion on demo, as before. Exactly what will be on demo has yet to be decided, but it will be different to last year.

I’ll be matching any show deals on anything that I do, so if you spot anything, email me so I can check it out over the weekend

Well that was a busy show - certainly busier than last year! I didn’t even get a chance to look around like I did last year...

It's a double edged sword. If it didn't attract a lot of visitors, the manufacturers couldn't justify the costs of attending, but I hate really crowded exhibitions, as a punter it's hard to get up close and personal with the products or the sales people. I wanted to go to see the latest Optoma PJs and turntables (all of them) but I couldn't justify it. I can always find a dealer such as yourself to demo specific kit.

I fully agree with you, which is why shows like Cranage Hall are better, because their attendance is lower. Unfortunately, the Bristol Show is one of those that you HAVE to be at, as it’s the biggest show of the year and best attended (from a manufacturer point of view). The smaller shows are growing though, and I think you may see some new attendees at Cranage Hall...

I went to the show on Sunday. The Hegel demo was a bit underwhelming for me. The Music Fidelity with studio Ram Falcon speakers were interesting and musical experience. But the system that really 'rocked' was the ATC room showing ATC SCM40's with ATC new SIA 100-2 Integrated Amp. The sound was so revealing, open and alive. A very interesting experience because it made me concentrate not only on the music, but also as to how the instruments were played and revealed the different sounds (timbre or tone?)of the instruments involved in the music. It was first time I heard anything of the ATC.

I have to admit, I wasn’t overly keen on the Hegel room, mainly because I just don’t think I like Dynaudio speakers. They were ok, but I didn’t like the bass/midrange on them.
